GRADUATION DAY



We all know that this month is for the graduation month, being a graduated student it is a pressure because we all know that the word graduate means in my own opinion it's done of everything in this stage and the graduate must take a new stage of life. My son's graduated yesterday in his pre school stage I know that in his young age he don't know what's the graduation totally means for him, he always asking me if what he will be after his graduation and I explain to him that he will be in grade one this coming month of june a first stage of serious studying not likewise in pre school playing with classmates, coloring, singing, going to school with the parents guide until the class is done, everything will be change a little bit....




The graduation start at 8am all parents and children's are very happy that day all are excited because you will see your child receiving their diploma...My son is very happy every time his name is called he received his special award as an active student in their classroom and a top five rank he is happy while showing his medal to their classmates....I have here some picture of my son taken during his graduation....Take a look at it and you will see how happy he is!!!

CULPRITS IN THE AIR

We all know that the quality of our air is deteriorating. But what are the culprits that foul the air?

Their are seven major air pollutants. These are carbon monoxides, hydrocarbons, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, ozone, and lead.


Carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless and tasteless gas that is formed when gasoline is burned in the presence of an inadequate supply of oxygen. The gas interferes with the ability of the blood to transport oxygen. Its binds with hemoglobin preventing it from picking up oxygen. Carbon monoxide poisoning results in dizziness and even heart attack because the heart has to pump harder in order to supply oxygen to different parts of the body. About 80 percent of carbon monoxide emissions come from motor vehicles.

Hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons are organic compounds that contain only hydrogen and carbon. Motor vehicles and industries that use solvents account for about 40 percent of the hydrocarbons in the air. Hydrocarbons released by motor vehicles are actually unburned or partially burned gasoline that combines with oxygen and nitrogen oxide in a series of reactions to form peroxyacetyl nitrite (PAN). PAN is one of the substances associated with the formation of smog. Furthermore, hydrocarbons are narcotic at high concentrations and some are considered carcinogens.

Sulfur oxides. The world health organizations rates sulfur oxides as the worst pollutants. They are formed when sulfur-containing coal is burned. These oxides irritate the respiratory system and aggravate the condition of people who suffer from asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and other lung ailments. They also damage plants whose leaves become bleached when exposed to sulfur oxides. Moreover, sulfur oxides help caused acid rain formation. They react with water vapor in the air to form acids that lower the pH of rain. More than 80 percent of sulfur oxides emission comes from power plants while the remainder comes from smelters and other industries.

NITROGEN OXIDES. Power plants that use fossil fuels, as well as motor vehicles, are the major sources of nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxides irritate the eyes and the respiratory system. They also produce brown haze or photochemical smog and contribute to acid rain formation. They cause fabrics to fade and discolor. They can also destroy crops. Motor vehicles account for more than 40 percent of nitrogen oxide emissions.
PARTICULATE MATTER. Composed of solid and liquid particles of greater than molecular size. Dust and smoke form particulate matter that is visible. Particles that are not visible are called aerosols. Various s,industries power plants, and dust from farms and construction sites are major sources of particulate matter. The particulate matter released by coal plants is actually composed of soot or unburned carbon and unburned mineral matter. particulate matter irritates the respiratory system. They also contain adsorbed toxic metals and carcinogens.
OZONE. We always think of ozone as a good substance because it protects us from harmful ultraviolet rays. However, in the lower portion of the atmosphere, ozone is a pollutant. It can irritate the eyes even at low concentration. At high concentrations, ozone can cause pulmonary edema, hemorrhage, and even death. Ozone is also a constituent of photochemical smog. Moreover, it can cause extensive crop damage, especially to tobacco and tomatoes. It also shortens the life span of automobile tires and other rubber products because it causes rubber to harden and crack. Most of the ozone in the lower troposphere are formed during the formation of photochemical smog from nitrogen oxides.
LEAD. Lead is a heavy metal poison that effects the blood, liver,kidneys, and brain. Most of the lead in the atmosphere comes from the used of tetraethyllead which improves the antiknock qualities of gasoline. Many countries have already replaced leaded gasoline with unleaded gasoline but some countries, including the Philippines, continue to make leaded gasoline available to consumers. The major air pollutants come from motor vehicles. In fact, about one-half of the mass of air pollutants can be traced to motor vehicles.

Facts About "Hugas-bigas"

Pechay

Pechay (Brassica Pekinensis) is also called Chinise Cabbage, pe-tsai, won bok and nappa. It is a versatile garden vegetable that maybe used in making salads, coleslaw, or added to other stir-fried vegetables. Its crisp, tender leaves has a milder and sweeter taste than true cabbage. It is a good source of vitamin A, folic acid and potassium.
The average pechay has a cylindrical head of four inches thick and a lenght of up to 18 inches long. The predominant variety of the the pechay has creamy yellow crinkly thickly veined inner leaves. It outer leaves are light green with a white midrid.
The pechay is available all year round and best planted in the summer. The heads of the mature Chinese cabbage are normally harvested when it is fully developed. It takes 70 to 90 days from planting for the pechay to reach maturity.
Rice
Rice (Oryza sativum) is a principal food of almost half the world's population. Rice flourish in Southeast Asia where there is warmth and moisture. It reaches an average height of around i metre. The fruit, a grain, is produced on the nodding panicle of spikelets at the apex of the stalk. A brown, fibrous husk surrounds a bran layer which encloses a white endosperm.
When the husks are removed, brown rice is left. A hundred grams of brown rice is comprised of 7.5 protein, 1.8 percent fat, 15 milligrams of calcium, 1.4 milligrams of iron, 357 calories, 0.3 milligrams of vitamin B, 0.05 milligrams of vitamin V2, and 4.6 milligrams of nicotinic acid. The remaining 100 grams are carbohydrates containing compounds.
The consumption of brown rice has increased because of the nutritional value of rice bran. As the layers of the rice are removed through pounding, milling, and washing, the proportion of the nutrients in the resulting grain is deminished while the proportion of the carbohydrates increases. When the nutritious bran is removed, white rice is left. Polished rice contains approximately 25 percent carbohydrates, trace amounts of iodine, iron (1mg), magnesium, vitamin B (0.08mg), vitamin V2 (0.03mg) and phosphorus, and negligible amounts of fat(0.7 percent) and protein (6.7 percent) per 100 g of rice.
Carbohydrates content in the rice consists of a polymer of glucose, starch. Starch is sometimes extracted from rice in East Asia to produce rice wine. Most starches are made up two components, amylase and amylopectin.
Most of the water soluble nutrients present in rice, vitamins such as thiamine, riboflavin,niacin and minerals, such as phophorus, calcium, and iron, loose starch granules and proteins are washed away before rice is cooked.
Before cooking, rice is soaked and washed atleast twice with tap water. The nutritious liquid waste is then disposed of. sometimes, the "washed water" is made into am, a liquid given to infants and children suffering from dehydration. In the provinces it is a practice among Filipino women to water their plants with "hugas-bigas."
A study on the different nutrients present in " hugas-bigas" was conducted. Pechay (Brassica Pekinensis) plants were divided into five groups. The first group was watered with 100 percent concentration of the first washing, the second group with 50 percent concentration of the first washing, the third group with 100 percent concentration of the second washing, the fourth group with 50 percent concentration of the second washing, and the fifth with tap water. The "hugas-bigas" was also tested for the presence of nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as soil and water pH. Observations of plant growth showed that the 50 percent concentration of the second washing contributed to the highest growth of pechay plants. The first washing of "hugas-bigas" had a 31.9 percent nitrogen concentration while the second washing had an 18.2 percent concentration.
Watering plants using "hugas-bigas" is practice observed by Filipinos in rural areas. Plants watered by "hugas-bigas" are observed to have considerable improvement of growth. This study aims to use "hugas-bigas" in watering pechay plants and to scientifically determine its effect on growth. The nutritive content of "hugas-bigas", specally its nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium content will also be noted and determined.

What makes BUTTERFLIES and MOTHS different?

Have a great day to all of you, i want to share to you about flowers, i like flowers very much they give my life meaningful when i see flowers with different colors and shape, if the res an occasion like mothers day ill never forget to give my mom flowers..well you know where the flower taken i got it in our garden and when my mother saw her garden she gave a smile to me and telling how a nice girl I am..I compare myself to butterfly because we really like flowers.
You know that butterflies and moth like flowers too...have you ever heard about the difference between butterflies and moth well let me to tell you about this.
Butterflies and moths belong to the same insect family called Lepidoptera.
Insects that belong to this family essentially have small heads with the under jaw protruding. They are also more broad than long. They have large compound eyes placed at the sides of the head and consisting of a large number of separate lenses-with as many as 27,000 in some species-arranged as a mosaic.
Some moths also have an additional pair of eyes at the top of their heads and the second segment of their heads bear the varying lengths and shape of antennae. Butterflies have simple and clubbed tips while moths have comb-shaped, filiform, feathery, etc.
.Mouth parts are adapted for sucking Exterior lobes of the jaw or maxilla, are fused together forming a hollow tube known as the proboscis-which the insects use to suck nectar from fruits or flowers.
Both have three pairs of legs and the wings are four in number and roughly triangular in shape.
Their bodies differ, however, in as much as moth bodies are hairier and fatter. Generally, although with exceptions, butterflies take flight in the day, moths by night.
There are , obviously, no sharp distinctions between the be winged insects. Indeed some moths actually look like butterflies. And, while most butterflies are pretty, a few are pests. Many moths, in contrast are pests.
